After successful completion of the course, students are able to recognize and fundamentally solve the civil law issues of data access and data ownership. The students also learn which data protection issues are important in this context and how these are to be assessed legally.
Digitization has an impact on space! This is particularly evident in the areas of traffic / mobility, energy and spatial development. Data play a central role in this, because they are the basis for digital spatial planning concepts, such as applications that are intended to improve the flow of traffic. This data is often held by private companies. However, they are needed by the (public) institutions responsible for the planning. The following questions are therefore legally interesting: Who does the data belong to? Is there a right to data access? Are data relating to specific persons protected? These questions and more will be worked out in the seminar on the basis of civil law and data protection law.
Independent processing of the questions, presentations and group work. Joint discussion of questions and cases in online live sessions.
Term papers and lectures: Creation and presentation of a lecture on the civil and data protection law basics of data access and protection and written processing and resolution of specific practical cases on data access and protection as well as its presentation. Participation in the discussion groups.
