  • oversee the current Transition Studies discourse
  • critically reflect on debates regarding (regional) energy transitions from a spatial research and planning perspective
  • implement research on transitions on their own

  • Introduction to Transition Studies: global development challenges, sustainability challenges & SDGs, wicked problems, Technological / Global Innovation Systems, the Multi-Level-Perspective
  • Introduction to the (regional) energy transitions discourse
  • Discussion of different approaches in Transition Studies and empirical studies on energy transitions

Teaching methods

  • Literature-based seminar
  • Interactive discussion of literature, theoretical concepts, empirical studies, findings, critique
  • Inverted classroom: Students prepare and present content from scientitic papers and studies to the group
