After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • understand the approach of strategic planning on a conceptual level and how strategic planning is related to tactical urbanism,
  • grasp differences between strategic planning realized in different big cities or metropolises in the Global North concerning the above relation, the goals, processes and actors involved in strategic planning as well as reasons for doing strategic planning
  • name challenges for strategic planning generally and specifically for these urban areas,
  • know how strategic planning is embedded in urban governance,
  • understand the politics of participation generally and specifically for these urban areas.
