Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to develop research projects on topics related to tourism and to work on them independently. In particular, students acquire a comprehensive knowledge of relevant research sources.

 

Furthermore, students are able to critically analyse the spatial relevance of tourism phenomena and learn about the possibilities and instruments of planning intervention. 

Subject of course

Kick-Off (07.10.2024): Enrollment clearance + flashlight

Plenum Svanda 1 (07.10.2024): Input lecture on the effects of tourism for planning; selection of topic clusters by each team.

Plenum Meyer-Cech 1 (15.10.2024): The system of tourism, tourism and spatial planning, trends, tourism quality, the touristic product, tourism and agriculture, Alpine spatial planning.

Plenum Svanda 2 (22.10.2024): Presentation of the research design

Plenum Meyer-Cech 2 (05.11.2024): Management tools in tourism, tourism and natural hazards, secondary homes.

Plenum Svanda 3 (17.12.2024): Presentation of the preliminary results

SUBMISSION of the article/essay via TUWEL by mid-January 2024

Teaching methods

Basic knowledge is taught in frontal lectures, which are broken up by discussions and work tasks in plenary sessions or small groups as well as short video sequences.


Creation of a research plan and independent realisation, writing of an exposé

Registration modalities

The registration will be activated individually for all courses of the module on 05.09.2025 12:00!

In order to ensure a practical seminar and exercise, a maximum of 30 students of the bachelor programme "Spatial Planning and Spatial Development" will be admitted. The "first come, first served" principle applies and there will be no ranking by the lecturers!

For all students registered in TISS, the kick-off date is mandatory to confirm the registration for the LVAs of the module. If this event is missed, other students will move up from the waiting list.
