Dieses Wahlmodul (SE+VU) wird gemeinsam angeboten und auf Englisch abgehalten.
The seminar focusses on sustainable urban development and local resilience from a theoretical perspective. Students will discuss approaches to urban sustainability challenges as well as just transition, resilience and local adaptation practices in the global south and the global north. Taking a perspective on global trends, conceptual approaches and local practices in Europe and Southeast-Asia, concepts like local adaptive capacities or sharing economies are being elaborated. Students shall process and investigate scientific literature in English and critically approach urban phenomena from an inter-disciplinary and multi-dimensional perspective.
Students read scientific papers, elaborate answers to given questions and discuss them in class. They work in small groups to analyse a chosen topic from a theoretical perspective.
The final result is an essay about their chosen topic, which is also presented and discussed in a workshop setting.
