  • capture and present past spatial development as well as current conditions and trends using cartography and mapping as well as key figures and infographics
  • name specific challenges in terms of ecological sensitivity and threats to uses along the river / in the valley / in the region, as well as to identify and vividly present the importance of rivers and river areas for the common good, especially with regard to their tangibility and to sustainable use
  • to draft general visions and future perspectives and to present spatial development possibilities using texts and plans
  • to show tangible measures for the improvement of river courses, banks, river basins and regions
  • to discuss rivers as an identification feature for regional cooperation

This course is part of the elective module 4 ("Cooperation Region"). 

Registration for the entire elective module is conducted via VU 280.809 (Cooperation and Identification Space Region - Proposals for services of general interest in rural areas).  

Subject of course

The provision of essential goods and services of general interest, especially in rural areas, is not only a major economic and financial challenge for municipalities and institutions of general interest (efficiency and financing), but is also of eminent importance for social justice and the quality of life of all citizens (social distribution and justice). The different realities of life of different socio-demographic groups must be taken into account.

The course can only be completed in combination with VU 280.809 ("Cooperation and Identification Space Region - public welfare") as part of elective module 4.

In the registration process, preference will be given to those students who take the elective module in combination with the bachelor seminar 280.965 ("Bachelor thesis -Proposals for services of general interest in rural areas").

- Draft of future images (e.g. scenarios, zoning, areas for action and potentials)
- Strategies and measures (prepared in a presentable way, e.g. as a booklet, folder, film, podcast or similar, as well as a - poster and short technical article)
- Attendance and participation in plenary sessions
- Independent excursion on site
- Final presentation and exhibition in Drosendorf
