After successful completion of the course, students are able to orientate themselves in the field of Austrian constitutional and administrative law as well as in the relevant fields of EU Law and possess a profound knowledge of these areas of law. Students understand the links between international-, EU- and national law as well as the political and legal framework in which regulations are being introduced and enforced. Students are able to differentiate between the governmental powers and know the functions and coherences in a constitutional state. Students will get to know the relevance of regulations and legal instruments for decisions in the field of urban and spatial planning.

Introduction to the concept of law - Institutions and tasks of the state - fundamental principles of the Austrian Constitution - elections and law making process - fundamental rights - institutions, tasks and types of action of the Austrian administration - adminisrative procedural law - specific areas of administration law (legal framework for the operation of plants, building and planning laws); Introduction to EU law 

Lecture on basis of practice-oriented examples;  interactive discussion of topics.

The lecture will be held in the Hybrid-Modus. This means that the lectures will take place physically in the lecture hall and will be supported by the TUWEL-Course (where materials will be uploaded and online tasks for repetition will be made available). If the pandemic situation makes it necessary, we will have to switch to online lectures via Zoom. This will be announced in advance.
