After successful completion of the course, students are able to use different analysis methods in order to get an overview of the existing spatial potentials and conflicts in the analyzed space. Additionally, students are empowered to recognize influences and dependencies from higher and lower levels and to derive initial solutions for spatial development. In this way, students can use the diverse tasks and methods of spatial planning in a problem-oriented manner with a sharper problem awareness and increased sensitivity. In addition, after completing this course students are well prepared for the project work within the following course "Spatial Planning / Urban Design”.
The background knowledge imparted in the parallel cours "Typologies of Urban and Spatial Structures" is applied and deepened in two units. Abilities to read the specific location, to gain the necessary planning overview and to structure and visualize this knowledge are trained in the first unit "City Analysis". In the second unit "Spatial Conception", the findings on the analyzed space are summarized, decisions for and against options for action are presented and recommendations and decision templates are drawn up in written and graphic form.

Voraussetzung für die Beurteilung ist eine vollständige und fristgerechte Abgabe aller Teilleistungen sowie die verpflichtende Teilnahme an den Entwurfswerkstätten, Korrekturterminen und der Abschlussveranstaltung.
Voraussetzung für eine positive Beurteilung der LVA ist die positive Beurteilung beider Units.
