After successful completion of the course, students are able to deal with the following challenges.

The students become co-researchers. The development of a (first) methodological toolbox is an important learning outcome. In addition, current topics will be discussed with internationally invited experts in the SPACE ANATOMY TALKS.

Methodological workshops prepare for the field trips.

In the summer, the students themselves go on a field trip and visit new places of health in Austria.

Demographic change, new medical methods, digitalisation, growing health inequality and the individualisation of treatment bring fundamental changes to our health system.
New forms of health care (e.g. primary care centres, patient hotels, day clinics) and nursing care (e.g. assisted living, day care, senior citizens' shared flats) are emerging. These new care structures, health practices and typologies raise questions that massively affect architecture and planning as well as the urban and rural everyday life.

In order to bring this expertise into the debates, future architects and planners need to know how to implement specifications.
With this situation in mind, the SPACE ANATOMY project will ask what role health and its infrastructures will play in future architecture and planning.

The architectural and planning anatomy of spaces, networks and everyday practices related to health is translated into a transdisciplinary approach in the SPACE ANATOMY project. The identification of formal and everyday places and interfaces of health infrastructures and a subsequent investigation and cataloguing will deepen the disciplinary understanding of the topic. In order to achieve the goal of creating a first overview of architecture, planning and practices of health infrastructures in Austrian, a number of methods will be applied and developed in five phases.

Die Anmeldung für diese LVA ist gleichzeitig die Anmeldung für das gesamte Wahlmodul 2. Interessierte Studierende können sich bis 16.September mit Portfolio und/oder Motivationsschreiben bewerben (mail am magdalena.maierhofer@tuwien.ac.at). Danach werden die restlichen Plätze via TISS vergeben. Das Modul ist auf 10 Plätze beschränkt.
