Subject of course

Around 42% of Vienna's CO2 emissions come from the mobility sector. This sector is therefore a key lever for a climate-neutral city. Subways are being built, mobility hubs implemented, car sharing expanded and bicycle infrastructure improved. However, an important part of CO2 emissions remains largely unaffected by this: urban commercial and freight transport, which accounts for more than 20% of traffic-related emissions in Vienna (similar to other cities). At the same time, the city has to be supplied with goods.

How can this conflict be resolved? How can the smooth supply of goods to cities be ensured while at the same time reducing CO2 emissions and other negative external effects?

Which concepts, data, strategies, measures, infrastructures, technologies and models can contribute to a better future?

This is what we want to find out through your bachelor thesis.

Teaching methods

Input lectures and discussion of the contents in the plenum, practical linkage, joint creation of a literature collection on TUWEL, independent writing of the bachelor thesis according to guidelines of good scientific practice, reflection on one's own work process, oral presentation of intermediate steps and final result.
