Aim of course

  • Learn basic principles, methods and tools for improving your academic writing and publishing
  • Learn about what to publish, where and how (publication types, the publishing process, what is a peer review process, how to get from doctoral student to journal author)
  • Improve your academic writing through mastering structured and creative writing skills

Subject of course

This soft-skill seminar invites doctoral students from architecture, planning and related fields, who want to learn about the academic publishing process and improve their writing approach. In an interactive setting, we will discover basic principles, methods and tools for improving our academic writing and publishing. We will discuss what to publish, where and how (e.g. publication types, the publishing process, and peer review) and learn from other authors, who will share their academic publishing experiences and practical writing tips with us. Moreover, we will improve our academic writing through reflecting our writing personality and mastering structured and creative writing skills

  • Input from experienced authors that reflect about their publishing experience
  • Creative writing workshop
  • Small take-home assignments
