Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • discuss the term "culture"
  • point out some specific aspects of "Austrian Culture"
  • point out and discuss differences between different cultures
  • explain the historical context and influences of cultural aspects on planning in Austria

Subject of course

The term culture will be discussed and elaborated as well as what the "Austrian Culture" might be - from the view of foreign students as well as of Austrian students. The historical context and development will be discussed also, furthermore typical situations of everyday life will be examinated and compared. Furthermore it will be elaborated in which way the cultural context does or may influence planners priorities and decisions. In addition, there will be a short field trip.
