Subject of course

"We need a new spatial contract. In the context of widening political divides and growing economic inequalities, we call on architects" and planners "to imagine spaces in which we can generously live together: together as human beings who, despite our increasing individuality, yearn to connect with one another and with other species across digital and real space; together as new households looking for more diverse and dignified spaces for inhabitation; together as emerging communities that demand equity, inclusion and spatial identity; together across political borders to imagine new geographies of association; and together as a planet facing crises that require global action for us to continue living at all"

– Hashim Sarkis, La Biennale di Venezia, https://universes.art/de/biennale-venedig/2020-architecture#c42460, 27.1.2020)

The module "How we will live together?" comprises a VU, UE and EX, visualising the future of space on different levels in a practical, communication-oriented and creative way. This requires a high willingness of the participants to work independently and to organize themselves. The teaching is research-led. In the sense of action research, affected persons, interest groups and other actors are to be involved. The work is to be actively supported by empirical research and thus contribute to an essential – so far neglected – state of knowledge, e.g. on mobility, public space, conversion, location requirements, communication sites, social infrastructures, (digital) spatial information, spatial strategies and concepts. Visualisations and practical planning results (backcasting) are expected to contribute to instruments and processes of spatial planning (e.g. local and regional development concepts, traffic concepts, master plans, stakeholder and participation processes).
