Aim of course

The students should acquire as part of an indepentend project work a comprehensive understanding of the complexity of "Affordable Housing". In the planning region "Ötztal" the students should try to develop integrative planning approaches to the supply with affordable living space.

Teaching goals are:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the problematic topic of "Affordable Housing" in a spatial planning perspective
  • Understanding the mechanisms of housing subsidies (eg. Tirol)
  • Understanding the strenghts and problems about contracts in spatial planning
  • Knowledge about measures in active land policy
  • Solutions for the provision of affordable living space in Ötztal/Tyrol (Sölden/Längenfeld)

In cooperation with the office of the provincial government of Tyrol, architecture- and planning offices as well as the municipalities of Sölden and Längenfeld, a comprehensive picture of the complex task of how affordable housing can be established should be generated. It is particularly important to analyze local strategies and consider them in the context of regulatory approaches by the legislator.
