After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and analyze the diversity of society and its importance for participation processes, especially in the context of climate change adaptation, and to independently design gender-sensitive processes.
The focus of the seminar is on the different forms and methods of participation in spatial development by different groups of acteurs and their effectiveness and roles in the democratic planning process. In particular, the questions of representativeness, transparency, instrumentalization, willingness to learn, trust and enforcement possibilities will be discussed both theoretically and on the basis of practical examples.
Key texts from on the main topics of gender diversity, participation and climate change adaptation will be provided.Texts are excerpted in group work and presented together with handouts.In groups of 2, students will set their own priorities and jointly develop and write a scientific paper.On the one hand, existing strategies, concepts and programs will be analyzed with regard to participation and gender aspects and interviews with actors will be conducted.On the other hand, the preceding processes of concrete projects are to be reconstructed with a focus on participation and gender and interviews with actors are to be conducted for this purpose.
