Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • recognize basic positions of ethics and political philosophy as standards of individual and political action.
  • develop a critical understanding / awareness of value positions using the example of application cases and conflicts in spatial planning
  • apply reflection and argumentation from an ethical perspective
  • acquire and communicate independent ethical questions in the context of spatial planning

Examination modalities

Individual Examination (50%):

  • 1 quote from lecture units with personal short statement (150 words) per lecture (3 quotes/statements from 5 lectures are obligatory in total) [15% of total assessment].
  • Writing an essay (800-1000 words) in essay week 13-23 December (individual homework, based on one of the quotations sent in, allocated by the LVA team, inclusion of literature) [25% of total assessment].
  • Collaboration, commitment, attendance [10% of total assessment]

Group Examination (5 persons, 50%)):

  • Exercise work on a topic of specialisation in a format of your choice (if written: approx. 10-12 pages/5,000 - 6,000 words)
  • Workshop contribution for the mediation of the deepening topic (preparation, execution, short documentation)
