Aim of course

Furnishing an overview regarding basic principles, aims, the elements and handling of a Environmental Impact Analysis considering preliminary and accompanying planning- and decision-stages in the field of Urban and Regional Planning.

Subject of course

Explanation of implementation of Environmental Impact Assessment in practice outlining requirements, the legal regulations and subject-matter related / social demands, the basics and the procedure as such. The proceeding is exemplified and discussed in the lecture. Following subjects and practical experience - preferably by means of concrete Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements - are covered: - Definition of Environmental Impact Assessment according to UVP-Gesetz 2000 Act accounting for social and societal requirements, integration of the general expectations of those concerned and the reality of the institutional position of the EIA - Development of UVP (EIA) in Austria - in comparison with the European and international situation - Planning steps and Assessments as basis prior to an UVE (EIS)/ UVP (EIA) - Strategic preliminary steps "SUP" or "SVP" - Legal fundamentals of "UVP" (EIA) (sectoral legal material) - Proceedings according to legal act and in practice (as concentrated proceeding/ street or with section regulation, etc. - Participants and their legal status - Preliminary proceedings/ analogue assessment framework - Environmental Impact Statement / set-up, handling approach, technical planning and submittal project, report, coordination - Environmental Impact Expertise ( UVG ) / set-up, method, the former assessment specifications, professional handling, part reports, report, coordination - Mediation and moderation throughout a UVP (Environmental Impact Assessment)
