The lecture will provide the broader context of grand development theories and an overview about the institutional landscape, facts & figures and key topics in international cooperation. The potentials and limits of regional development activities in the Global South will be presented by using contemporary project examples from Africa.
Methodologies and tools of project planning and monitoring such as Project Cycle Management/Logframe Approach/Management of Cooperation will be presented and practiced.
An interactive role play simulating a participatory planning situation in Ethiopia will reveal the impact of cultural settings and the conflict of interest in participatory planning.
Actual development projects in east Africa as well as contemporary topics like resilience, migration and climate change will be presented and discussed
