Students know about different types of research (e.g. applied, action research, case studies, comparative studies etc) and planning (local, regional, national level instruments of planning) and can discuss about explaining project examples for each type of planning and research.
After giving an overview of the research and planning funding landscape for urban and regional research and planning in the EU and Austria, in the lecture basics concerning different types of research (e.g. applied, action research, case studies, comparative studies, etc) and of planning (local, regional, national level instruments of planning) will be presented and discussed through explaining project examples for each type of planning and research. Furthermore, focus will be laid on certain parts of research and planning design: project plans, time and budget plans, project governance (actors and their interactions), forms of dissemination of the produced knowledge.
