The seminar of this semester deals with the concept of ecosystem services and the economic valuation of these. The focus is on understanding ecosystem services as a method and classification for drawing linkages between natural/ecological systems, ecosystem functions, services and human welfare. In addition, we will specifically discuss the linkages between ecosystem services, valuation, and planning.

- Concept of ecosystem services

- Linkages between ecosystem functions and human welfare, and planning

- Economic valuation methods

- Case studies and examples

The seminar will be taught in English (if international students are present); presentations will be in English, seminar papers can be written in German.
