Description of the seminar by Voigt/Tschirk/Wieshofer:
The multifaceted changes affecting our living spaces, such as the predominantly inward focus of settlement development together with changes in mobility, landscape, demography, energy and not least climate, call for clearly structured, integrated strategies and concepts for transformation.
In terms of content, the seminar focuses on:
- Processes & strategies in the spatial context
- Strategic planning
Description of the seminar by Franta: Thematic Focus "Urban development Politics in Vienna".
Against the background of changes in governance and planning in the context of postfordist processes of urban restructuring, the seminar mainly concentrates on questioning, how these changes alter political decision-making processes and power structures in urban development. Hence, its focus is on analysing and scrutinizing "urban politics" in Vienna, particularly with regard to the development and implementation of large scale urban development projects.

- Theory of territorial development and digitalisation
- precise analysis of empirical trends and problems with focus on strategies, actors, processes and measures
- critical discussion of the meaning of digitalisation and its impacts on territorial development and for planning approached
- own elaboration of interrelations between digitalisation and the components of territorial capital and discussion of empirical examples

- Anwesenheitspflicht bei den Plenumsterminen
- Verfassen einer wissenschaftlich fundierten Seminararbeit in 3er-Gruppen

- Thema und Forschungsfrage sind eigenständig, unter Mithilfe der Lehrenden, zu entwickeln.
- Das Seminarthema muss über wiss. fundierte Sekundärliteratur und einschlägige planerische Methoden erschlossen werden.

Topic. Strategic positions of all stakeholders in 'big' urban development projects which may also be subject to contractual agreements. The seminar has a significantly economic focus:
- Effects of land taxes (real estate transactions -, real estate appreciation -, land -, other land-relevant taxes) on the land market (esp. supply, prices).
- Impacts of vacancies - and building land mobilzation taxes on the land market
- Economic conceptualization and position of contractual agreements in urban development
- Assessment and valuation frameworks for improving the informational base for the urban decision makers
