Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • to record, reflect and scientifically process a spectrum of activities and successful planning by graduates of spatial planning
  • to research, tell and think further about successful spatial planning stories
  • to recognise which opportunities and new fields of action arise through spatial planning in cities, municipalities and regions and to integrate them into the framework conditions
  • to assess how the scope for action of cities, municipalities and regions and their inhabitants and enterprises can be opened up or sustainably secured by spatial planning
  • to record and present sustainable positive effects of spatial planning/spatial planning work on different spatial types, especially for the attractiveness of rural areas as well as for urban and metropolitan regions

Subject of course

The seminar enables students to work in a largely self-organised, interactive and practice-oriented way. The students work as a "peer group" which supports and advises each other in the elaboration of questions and the writing of the work.

The students are required to derive and elaborate current and relevant research questions for their individual work from the selected problem areas, supported by peer group and supervisor.

Teaching methods

  • research and reflexion
  • research on site, interview of a spatial planning success story and its development possibilities (text and / or plan)

Mode of examination
