Against the backdrop of urban planning history and the analysis of specific sites, the course aims at imparting skills for the development of spatial planning concepts. A topic of central importance is the development of concepts for a transversal and sustainable design of urban spaces. Students are encouraged to apply previously acquired theoretical knowledge to the practical implementation of an urban development plan. Expected learning outcomes: practising integrated thinking; translating urban development master plans into concepts; systematically developing alternatives; learning about quality requirements and principles for approaching urban planning issues; cooperative design approaches; new forms of design and visualisation.
Design training for working on complex urban development tasks. Course content relates to: developing a spatial planning design concept and in-depth treatment of selected issues and key areas; developing thematic concepts (buildings, non-built-up and green spaces, transport) at different scales and producing a synthetic view in a detailed urban design master plan; presenting the design in a physical building model. Working in assisted design groups, students will have the opportunity for an in-depth approach to the design task. Skills to be imparted include the ability to develop and translate spatial ideas and plans into visual designs.
Plenary meetings usually on Mondays, appointments for review - according to team of assistants - Tuesdays and Thursdays. More information on scheduling will be announced at the first meeting on 3rd Oct..
