After successful completion of the course, students are able to comprehend sociological conepts and apply them to architectural contexts. They have a basic understanding of the relation between social spaces and the physical enviroanment, social inequalities and social change.
Basic concepts as the individuum, society, norms, role, family, socialisation, power, conflict, social change are being introduced and interrelated to different theoretical approaches and philosophy of science. The causes of social inequality and its description (class, social mobility, social milieus, life styles, gender, migration, integration) take an important position in the lecture. At the end of the lectures the consequences for the function of planning will be discussed.
