Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to create and import 3D models, create textures and assign materials, setup scenes with cameras and lighting and render images for presentation of planning projects.

Subject of course

This class starts with the basic concepts of computerbased 3d visualistaion. Topics include import and export of 3d geometry, fundamental steps for creating geometry, textures and mapping techniques, simple lighting models, cameras in 3D space and compositing methods.

The software used in class include Google Sketchup, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop and Google Earth.

The class is on an introducional level with a strong focus on hands on examples.

Teaching methods

In the wintersemester of 2020 the class will be held as a distant learning course.

The topics for the distant learning phases will be covered via pre-recorded videos and live Zooms-Sessions. All of that plus homework assignments and projects will be coordinated via TUWEL. Access is available only after registration vis TISS.

The first class is held as a live Zoom Session and attendence is mandatory.

Additional information

This class is an introduction to 3d visualisation in Spacial Planning. In the registration process students of Spacial Planning will be preferred before students of other fields.

Attending the first class is mandatory. Students that fail to come to the first class will be removed from the list.
