To acquire a fundamental knowledge of economics in order to be able to understand economic processes and economic policy.

This lecture provides a comprehensive view and an introduction to micro-economics and macro-economics. The goal is to enable regional planners to understand the regional and national (supranational) level of economic reasoning. In particular, the lecture deals with market economies (their characteristics and the socio-economic context of individual decisions), micro-economics of private households, micro-economics of enterprises, the system of national accounts and the input-output-tables, growth and technical progress, business cycles and inflation, international trade.
