Aim of course
Description: Was the transformation of the central and east European economies a success story? What are the remaining specialities and problems of these economies, and what are their origins? What about future development of these economies? What consequences may EU membership bear for these economies?
Subject of course
These are the questions the lectures will deal with. The lecturer belongs to the scientific staff of the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (WIIW - Wiener Institut für Internationale Wirtschaftsvergleiche), an institute specialized on the analysis of economic development in central and east European countries. The lectures aim is providing knowledge for all kind of students, given that countries located north, east and south of Vienna will gain additional significance in forthcoming years. The lecturer will put emphasis on being understandable for students of all academic disciplines.
