Aim of course

The students ultimately should be able to form an individual opinion on energy related topics based on an adequate theoretical background and as well a comprehensive knowledge of the energy market.

Subject of course

1. Introduction to the Austrian Energy Market 2. The specifics of energy deployment 3. The theory of regulation und deregulation in the special focus of the liberalization of the energy markets in Austria and Europe 4. Energy taxation and alternative concepts to improve allocation efficiency in the case of grid-based energy systems and their relevance in liberalized energy markets 5. Case studies of hierarchical economic analysis in the field of energy economics 5.1. The economics of district heating as a natural monopoly 5.2. Strategies of energy supply in the case of grid based energy systems and their impact on the return of investment 5.3. Cooperatgion in electricity supply in the case of a thermo-hydraulic electricity production system
