JUG

The starting point for our creative exploration is the jug - an object that, in addition to its everyday function as a vessel, has a high symbolic value. With its open form, this supposedly banal object raises interesting spatial and social questions beyond its utility value. In the course of the course, artistic projects are implemented that focus on this social function in particular. The jug is not interpreted as a hermetic container, but as a distributor and communicative link in interpersonal exchange. The focus of the project is on the conception and development of creative processes that deal with the Stadtgarten Gmunden as an exhibition venue and the resources found there. In addition to regular meetings, workshops and museum visits in Vienna, the intensive project phases of the course consist of stays in Gmunden lasting several days. The premises of our department and the Kunstquartier Stadtgarten Gmunden will be available to us as production sites for our project, with students working in two teams to develop concepts relating to the semester's theme.
