After successful completion of the course, students are able to carry out international research in a professional context, to systematically evaluate, categorize and describe results, and to present them in a suitable database / website, thus making them publicly visible and accessible.
Following on from the international conference CLAIMING*SPACES Feminist Perspectives in Architecture and Spatial Planning at the Vienna University of Technology in November 2019, a database / website with international contributions is to be created to enhance the visibility of women in architecture and spatial planning. This platform will serve to promote and network women's concerns in these planning sectors. The researched contributions should include institutions, networks, initiatives, events, exhibitions, research projects, videos, publications, media reports and also courses and should be structured and retrievable in categories. An international overview and search by country should also be made possible. The contributions found should be systematically presented in a way that makes them easily comparable by means of a summary and the presentation of criteria.
In the group meetings, the context of the work topic is discussed. The seminar leaders provide impulse lectures and exemplary researched contributions. Students acquire knowledge and discuss and reflect on it in group work. Short presentations on suggested and self-chosen topics follow. Existing platforms on the topic are researched in order to analyse structure, content and presentation. The definition of essential criteria for a suitable database / website is also part of the course. Together, aspects for an optimal uniform and informative presentation of the contributions will be developed.
