Development of an independent artistic expression, to meet different contemporary artistic practices and strategies dealing with (social-public-cinematically-architectural) space, possible presentations in architectural and artistic context.
Paradise Enterprise
The project aims at developing a contemporary intepretation of a „paradise garden“ at the location of the former paradise garden of the cloyster of the clarisses in Judenburg/ Styria. The former cloyster has been reused as social housing. This central area of the former paradise garden located next to the river Mur which is currently used as parking lot and for storage should be redefined and gain new significance for the whole town. The artistic urban interventions should develop new qualities for this public space, connecting the historical center of Judenburg to Murdorf located on the other side of the Mur. Murdorf is a working class district with housing blocks from the 1960s adjacent to the steel factory. The extraordinary qualities of the landscape of the riverbanks, as well as the specific social and spatial context, form a special frame fort his public art project, which will be accompanied by the larger project of „paradise enterprise“ (ongoing since the beginning of 2013). This project seeks to develop artistic urbanistic strategies for direct urbanism as longer term urban concept fort he future of Judenburg with a main focus on the youth, since a major problematic of Judenburg is its population shrinking of approx. 7% per year.
The project starts with a workshop on site in Judenburg: Oct.11-12, 2013.
In the course of the semester the projects should be elaborated either as durational strategies or as performative interventions on site.
