  • Format: Presence

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to adequately handle existing architectural objects in a direct freehand manner: they can both record viewed perspectives and analyze what they have seen in free sketches.

Subject of course

Drawing of existing spatial situations directly from observation on location, completed with sketches from an analytical point of view. Draw what yo are interested in as a budding architect! Feedback to your drawings is obligatory anyway: several sessions, but there is no obligation to be always present!

Teaching methods

On-the-spot practice: recording of the directly visible scenery, supplementary clearing, extraction of plans
In-depth reflection: Reconstruction from memory, notation of schemata, anticipation of unseen perspectives with subsequent control on the spot

Mode of examination

Immanent

Additional information

A sketchbook, which you could always have with you (loose papers are also allowed), fills up in the course of the semester with notes on experienced architecture. It's about the graphic study of architecture, not just about making pretty pictures! The free, graphic image note is supplemented by considerations on the following topics, among others: - scale, - sculptural quality, - interior spatial effect and the conditions that create it, - distillation and abstraction of spatial sequences, - translation into plan cracks, - lighting effects, - material and construction. The task should also be motivation for your own architectural expeditions. You study architecture and draw architecture: Only pretty "postcard painting" would be a missed theme!

Introduction, exercise and feedback offers: see "course dates"!
The link to the zoom Meetings is to be found in the TUWEL Course "Nachrichtenforum" on top of the page. The first date will just be an introductory lecture. If the dates don't fit for you, you may attend the additional feedback recorded in PowerPoint-Files
