The Lecture gives an introduction into methodology and technology of present computerized manufacturing techniques (CAD/CAD) as well as into their utilization in model making, prototyping and production in the field of architectural and industrial design.
The main topics of this lectures include the general material processing options (master forming, forming, cutting, etc.), form finding and definition methods in CAD systems, revere engineering technologies, numerical and computer numerical controlled machines (NC/CNC bending, cutting, milling, welding), various rapid prototyping, rapid tooling und rapid manufacturing technologies (laser sintern, 3d printing, etc.), quality and economical as well as ecological aspects of these techniques, repercussions of manufacturing processes on the design.
The lecture does not demand any specific premises on the students. The content is closely linked to architectural or design tasks and topics and illustrated by examples. The lecture is supplemented by the exersice Digitales Modell (LVA 264.047). In this exercise the theoretical fundamentals from the lecture are extended by practical experience in using the institute s CNC and rapid prototyping machines. The first lecture will be held on Monday the 15th of March.
Graded, at the end of the lecture there will be an oral examination.
