Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to classify current tendencies, developments and consequently spatial transformations of educational landscapes (schools, librarys, universities, informal educational landscapes) as a place of work, learning and living as well as part of the urban infrastructure - in both formal and informal contexts - and to use them as a basis and preparatory research for further design tasks in the field of educational landscapes.

Subject of course

The course is held in the format of a lecture series.

Tendencies, current topics and projects of applied educational and spatial research will be presented and discussed. The main focus will be on the topic of "SPACE FOR  STUDYING in the 21st century": Current state and future developments.

The lecturers of the lecture series look at the spatial transformation of educational landscapes, understood as a formal as well as informal educational landscapes, from different perspectives: the focus is on social, cultural, architectural, technological aspects.

What accesses to knowledge are there?

What are the media of knowledge in the 21st century? How are they archived, exhibited and made available?

How will the workplace/learning place/teaching place be conceived in terms of content and how architecturally designed in the future?

What is the context with the surrounding public urban space?
