After successful completion of the course, students are able to
- recognize which problems and challenges the "classical" single-family house brings to spatial planning and architecture- apply different methods- to give an overview of the manifold aspects of the single-family house- From spatial planning- From architecture- From the practice- From sociology- From the point of view of a community/region in a rural area- To prepare information well- To assess current and future trends from this subject area and to become active in planning.
The central content of this course is the single-family house. Central contents come from architecture, spatial planning, sociology and practice (planning office and community/region).The course starts with 6 content blocks, each with a lecture (approx. 45 minutes) and an in-depth moderated discussion (approx. 45 minutes). The presentations and discussions will be co-documented and compiled into a reader with additional materials (podcasts, literature, articles, etc.).The topics are:1. "The single-family house in regional planning"2. "History of the single-family house"3. "OLD proven and NEW thought: preservation, remodeling and expansion of single-family homes"4. housing alternatives with single-family qualities5. sociology6. architectureBetween 13 and 15 June we spend 3 days (2 nights) in the landuni Drosendorf in the Waldviertel (www.landuni.at) and work on site in the region questions and topics that have previously been discussed in the lecture hall in the form of workshops. On June 16, the final presentation of the entire module will take place at the Etagenfest in cooperation with the Viertelfestival.
