After successful completion of the course, students are able to work on complex design tasks in the field of urban planning independently, systematically and with an original, contemporary design approach based on a precise design language. They have the competence to identify fields of action in the urban context and to develop appropriate urban design solutions. Students are able to carry out research on their own responsibility and to establish topic-related basics. They are able to create design concepts and to present them comprehensively in the form of strategic, draft and detailed plans in teamwork. Due to the short processing time, another focus of the "Kleines Entwerfen" studio lies in the process-optimized, collective and pointed design work.
The Summer School is organised by the Politecnico di Milano. In addition to TU Wien, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Lyon is also taking part. Location of the event: Villa Olmo, located directly on Lake Como. Language: English.
With a view to the historically and morphologically fascinating city of Como, an intensive and interdisciplinary discussion will take place with the city administration on current questions of the requalification of public spaces. The focus will be on the special features of the "Italian piazza" and the relationship to the landscape. The results of the work will be presented to the public.
Introduction date: Date in Mai/June (tba); Location: at the department of Urban Design
The Como Design Studio will be limited exclusively to the period of the excursion to Como (apart from an introductory date in Vienna). In walks, workshops and presentation sessions, relevant urban design topics will be discussed, researched and addressed in design assignments in close collaboration with the teachers and students of the Politecnico di Milano and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Lyon.
