After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and reflect on complex topics of landscape and open space planning in urban and rural areas. They are able to present strategic considerations in textual and planning terms and to develop drafts on the topic.
“Hardly any other region in Germany is subject to such fundamental and continual changes in the landscape to such an extent as Lausitz. For over 100 years, landscapes have given way to a large area of lignite mining, in order to subsequently emerge again in a process of gradual restoration of the areas claimed by mining. "(BTE 2013). Germany aims to phase out coal by 2035 and become climate neutral by 2050. What does this mean for the region and what can it stand for in the year 2100? The course deals with the related issues of landscape change, climate change, structural change and energy change. The aim is to develop visions of the future for the region and concrete creative impulses for a corresponding process.
The Kick OFF of the whole module will take place on 01 March at 9.00 in the seminar room Landscape (erzherzog Johannplatz 1;3rd floor).
Excursion to the region of the Lausitz 24.04.4-03.05.2022
An essential part of the design course is an excursion to the region of the Lausitz 24.04.4-03.05.2022. Participation is obligatory for a positive completion of the module.

The cooperation during the course units and the continuous independent work, as well as the quality of the final products (poster, eventually text) are taken into account in determining the final grade.
