After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and interpret the manifold historical and current components of the phenomenon "urban development".

By means of theories, models and practical examples, basic knowledge about framework conditions, influencing factors and results of processes of urban development in an international context and especially for the City of Vienna will be imparted. In doing so, reference is always made to the practice of urban development, thus creating an understanding for the students of the current and future challenges of urban planning

INFORMATION: Since the 11th Nov. students have the possibility to view all recorded lecture-streams on TUWEL. Due to the limited number viewers in the first sessions there will no longer be any lectures held live via ZOOM. The subject matter for the exams will remain unchanged, so will be the exams themselves.

The forth and fifth examination presentation are to be held before an examination board due to §77 UG2002. The forth examination presentation of the urban development exam is held as a written exam in costumary mode. The fifth is an oral examiation presentation.
