After successful completion of the course, students are able to work on complex design tasks from the field of urban planning independently, systematically and with an original, contemporary design approach on the basis of a precise design language. They have the competence to recognise fields of action in an urban context and to develop appropriate urban planning solutions. Students are able to conduct their own research and to establish topic-related fundamentals. They are able to create design concepts and present them comprehensively in the form of strategy, draft and detail plans.

Designing in the summer semester in the hamlet of Gassen in East Tyrol, combined with an excursion and a workshop week on site, 10+2 ects
The hamlet of Gassen was intensively inhabited for a long time. A landslide after heavy rainfall in the 1950s swept some houses down into the valley, and the hamlet was then abandoned as a settlement area. Now there are again interested people who want to return there.
The ideas of the future inhabitants are all connected with tourism.
Mountain hut, seminar house, chalets, but also own living space are under discussion.
The task deals holistically with the hamlet, its settlement structure and its development potential.
Scenarios of possible future uses are to be developed and presented, how renewal and repopulation can look and take place.
Topics of type and cubature, interweaving with the landscape, use and infrastructure, materiality and others, will occupy us intensively in this context.
