Focus of the upcoming summer semester: the role of decarbonization of the Viennese housing projects

Subject of course

Analysis in the context of decarbonization of the housing projects in Vienna:

  • analysis of the portfolio and energy supply
  • analysis possible actors, stakeholders of decarbonization [interests, competencies, etc.]
  • analysis of the legal framework

Concepts in the context of decarbonization of housing:

  • alternative technical strategies
  • alternative financing strategies
  • alternative implementation strategies

Assessments in the context of decarbonization of housing:

  • technical, economic, legal feasibility
  • ecological implications / speed
  • social and fiscal implications

Teaching methods

Didactic concept: constructivist didactics

The course content is based on case studies mixed with specific analysis tasks and planning assignments by the students.

This course is part of the Real Estate Development and Real Estate Economics.

The module "Real Estate Development and Real Estate Economics" is designed for students of spatial planning and architecture.

Participation and submission should be ideally in mixed groups (architecture and spatial planning) of max. 4 people.

Examination modalities

Submission: elaboration and presentation of a specific topic analysis or planning task in the context of decarbonization of the housing stock. Submission in the form of a short (science) video will be supported by workshops, but video submission is not obligatory. Work in groups of max. 3 people possible.
