Aim of course

Students should be enabled to understand the problems of a poor municipality with serious decline. The rich local culture which led to diversified building traditions from Russian, Ukrainian and Romanian groups that settle in C.A.Rosetti will be presented to participants. The exploration of the fluvial landscape of the Danube Delta is another target.

Subject of course

The excursion will take place in cooperation with students and teachers of the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest. We will explore the landscape and settlement structure of C.A.Rosetti, perhaps the poorest municipality in the entire EU. There are five villages, two of them Sfi¿tofca and Periprava have Russian speaking inhabitants, in Letea most people speak Ukrainian and in C.A.Rosetti and Cardon villages the population speaks Romanian. During the last 20 years the municipality lost 40% of its population. It is difficult to keep municipal services alive.
