After successful completion of the course, students are able to orient themselves analytically in relation to the complex connections between territory, spatial development, urban and settlement structure, building types and architecture and to evolve independently within the “art, to get city and countryside to speak” (André Corboz).
The course aims to develop an in-depth analytical and design-based understanding of the complex relations between territory, spatial development, urban and settlement structure, building types, architecture, etc. Various interpretive perspectives and planning methodological approaches shall be cultivated in relation to the designed environment. Furthermore, it shall be discussed how the subject matter of morphological approach of city and territory can be depicted in a future design-oriented module. This aspect will be incorporated in the lecture by a moderated discussion with the long-time lecturers Erich Raith and Alfons Dworsky.
Independent reading of an introductory text, lectures, guest lectures, moderated discussion.
The three-part series “Landschaft Lesen” (Editor: LandLuft) serves as script and its relevant questions and content shall be addressed in the examination.
The performance assessment takes place by means of a seminar paper covering all topics and scales, the presentation of which takes place online or in attendance at the end of June.
