After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the various aspects of the changes in this living space from the scale of the object to the scale of the region, from the transformation of the built environment to the transformation of society, from the analogue field to the digital cloud. Colleagues from different research fields, experts and guests will focus on the main issues of rural areas, long-term phenomena and current trends and counter-trends. In the field of tension between city and countryside lies the complexity of the territories and milieus subsumed under the catchword "rural area".
Topics such as the resilience of our living and provisioning spaces in the context of climate challenges, dynamic digitalization and the processes of necessary change in our use of resources, as well as the conflict between an expanding cultural landscape and the protection or return of "wild" natural landscapes in the context of large-scale habitat loss will be addressed.
