Students know and understand:
- real estate and urban development basics
- interdependencies between real estate and urban development
They know and understand main "Players" in urban- and real estate development.
They know and understand basic theories, methods and tools to steer real estate and urban development and apply them contiously.
Students act consciously in diffrent development situations and roles (capability to act, behave and decide situation specific).
The course tries to bridge real estate and urban development.
Focus of the course "Steering urban development by projects" are projects for an interime use of buildings and possibilities to increase the use of space over time ("Smart Occupancy" - Nacheinandernutzung und zeitgleichen Mehrfachnutzung). Based on projects and task from practice (like WeWork, MoreSpace) the following theories and topics will be tackled:
* New framework conditions for urban planning since the eighties; globalisation and chaos theory
* Possibilities to steer urban development by strategic interventions
* Theory of the public goods, game theory
* Actors, laws and contracts in urban development, System Theorie, Principal-Agent-Theory
* Property Development (UK) / Real Estate Development (US) from a private economic, from intermediate and from a public perspective
* Special aspects of corporate and public Real Estate Development
