Aim of course

In this module the students are acquiring basic skills of Real Estate Development and Real Estate Economics. The main focus lies upon: the situation specific skills, competences and abilities for the work in and collaboration with land- and real estate development companies; the urban and regional development in cooperation with real estate development companies and providers in the area of public-private-partnerships (PPP); and the conscious design and organization of the institutional landscape for real estate- and urban development.

Technical and methodical skills: knowledge and understanding of facilities as commodities/ knowledge, understanding and application of the relevant theories and methods in the context of the real estate development process such as procurement of land and property etc., market-placement of products and the rough concept, simulation and evaluation of the usage, the building, the financing and operation. Knowledge, understanding and application of the relevant theories and methods in the context of transfer of public duties and responsibilities to private stakeholders and intermediaries: conscious design and organization of the institutional landscape for real estate- and urban development, assurance of sustainability. Analysis of information dissemination and incentive structures in urban development situations, institutional landscapes of real estate - and urban development, allocation of mandates for performances of  public interest. Organisation and support of networks and supplier-relationships, innovation competencies for the creation and generation of new stakeholders and institutions in urban- and real estate development. Creativity in the development of products for the Real Estate Market.

Subject of course

Real Estate Development: Real Estate Development situations, stakeholders, interests, competences, processes, function-specific aspects. Real Estate Economics: particularities of facilities as a commodity, land- and real estate markets, possibilities of the exertion of influence and its effects; Institutional landscape of urban- and real estate development in the context of: possibilities, opportunities and threats of transfer of public duties and responsibilities (responsibility for the provision of public infrastructure, urban development and much more) to private stakeholders and intermediaries.
