After successful completion of the course, students are able to look around with the manifold components and concepts of urban planning and use them confidently in large-scale design.
With the help of selected examples and their historical and theoretical contextualisation, the fundamentals, methods, concepts and techniques of urban planning design were introduced, whereby the methodological and technical aspects were treated on an equal footing with the artistic aspects.
On the basis of selected, practical examples and their historical and theoretical contextualisation, basic principles and terminologies as well as methods and techniques of urban planning design are imparted, which will be directly applied in the parallel exercise. The methodological and technical context will be put on an equal footing with the artistic context.
With an overview of the historical development of urban planning and its terminology such as morphology, typology, infrastructure and territory, the background and objectives of urban planning are presented.
By describing phenomena such as shrinking, growth, suburbanisation, post-urbanisation and urbanisation processes, the city is understood as a system with political, social, economic, ecological and legal influencing factors.
