An open student competition for timber construction

International, interdisciplinary, open competition for students on the topic of building with wood. The competition is based on three building sites in the cities of MunichBerlin and Vienna; the aim is to explore the potential for densification of modern timber construction in the urban context.

Urban agglomerations in Central Europe are characterised by growing populations, and the consequences of this development are urban sprawl at the periphery entailing land consumption, overwhelming traffic volume, and a great need for additional infrastructure. This requires rethinking the use of resources and of building land. As a reaction and response to this development, the proHolz Student Trophy 22 focuses on extending, adding to and also redeveloping the existing urban fabric.

The competition is launched by
proHolz Austria in cooperation with proHolz Bayern (Bavaria DE).

Further cooperation partners are the City of Munich, Department of Urban Planning and Building Regulations, the City of Berlin, Senate Department for Urban Development and Housing and the City of Vienna, Wiener Wohnen.
