After successful completion of the course, students are able to think algorithmically.

Specifying the problem helps the students to understand the correct use of algorithms during the planning process. That means, students will be able to understand the problem and to divide it into a number of solvable sub-problems. That's why programming is not the main focus of the class.

A mock-up or a simulation of the process will show the practicability and usefulness of the proposed algorithm.

The general intention of the design studio is to develop an innovative and self-supporting wooden structure; the design should be guided by the digitization of the design process and the digital production of joints. Possible joints and dimensions are limited by a specific joinery machine (CNC-controlled wood cutting system), which an industry partner will provide. To look at different possibilities in that context, we will be organizing an field trip to that partner, who will also attend selected critics.

For the first phase (concerning the research) we use the submission system of TUWeL. All submissions will be commented by the course leader. In a next step, we will use live streams in smaller groups.
