Mobile event architecture at Castle Waldenfels.
The aim of the course is to develop a generative system for the flexible use of the historical premises. The formulation of the concept implies the setting of the parameters necessary for a differentiated application and the implementation of a design idea with the possibilities of digital design methods.
The Castle Waldenfels is situated in the municipality of Reichenthal in Upper Austria. The medieval ensemble with moat and fortified tower was rebuilt and expanded in the Renaissance. Today's complex is still privately owned and is partially rented for various events. The design task consists in the development of flexible concepts for variable use of interior spaces and outdoor areas. With the help of modular systems the necessary infrastructure is to be provided for the realization of temporary events such as concerts, theater performances, readings, seminars and celebrations of any kind. The aim of the design is to enable the most varied and rapid adaptation of the premises by architectural means without affecting the existing monument-protected building structure.
