After successful completion of the course, students are able to recognize, analyze and understand load-bearing structures of components, buildings and technical systems in general.The ability to select suitable materials and to develop and optimize appropriate load-bearing systems for the task at hand are essential
Course contents are in particular
- Building materials and their properties including their ecological indicators- Actions on structures- Forces and derived from them cable and arch structures, bending structures as beam and sheet structures- Cross-section-related actions and resistances, such as stress and strain- serviceability of structures (deformation, vibration)- parametric modeling and optimization of structures, evaluation criteria
