Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to recognize, analyze and understand load-bearing structures of components, buildings and technical systems in general.
The ability to select suitable materials and to develop and optimize appropriate load-bearing systems for the task at hand are essential

Subject of course

Course contents are in particular

- Building materials and their properties including their ecological indicators
- Actions on structures
- Forces and derived from them cable and arch structures, bending structures as beam and sheet structures
- Cross-section-related actions and resistances, such as stress and strain
- serviceability of structures (deformation, vibration)
- parametric modeling and optimization of structures, evaluation criteria
